Creative construction!
In Kiwi, we like to use our creative skills during discovery time.  Look what two children have created.  They have used the shape, position, colour and size of the cuisenaire rods so expertly to create these amazing works of art.  Well done Kiwi Kids!

Kite making in Kiwi
In Kiwi over the past week, we have been making kites during discovery.  This has been part of our Matariki celebrations.  We all enjoyed experimenting with our construction, but the best part was testing our kites.  We found that the best kite was made out of light material and the air could either be caught in it to push it up, or the air was under it to push it up.  It also helped if you were a fast runner!

Lachlan's Super Scooter!
Today Lachlan brought his scooter to school to show all of his friends how fast he could go.  Well, we were very impressed with the speed Lachlan demonstrated on his scooter.  He zipped, zapped and zoomed all over the scooter track, avoiding the debris with skill!  Many of Lachlan's friends raced him and found it very tricky to keep up with his speed machine.  Thanks for bringing in your awesome scooter to share with us Lachlan.

Some our us have been learning about sense poetry.  We have written several sense poems about Oropi School, Autumn, Winter, our Mum's and we also got to choose a topic for our last poem.  Enjoy reading some of our poetry.

NZSL Week

On Tuesday we had two visitors from NZSL week visit our school.  They taught us sign language.  Some people are deaf and can’t hear, so they have to use sign language to talk to each other. We learnt to sign the colours in the rainbow, the alphabet letters, some animal names and the numbers to 10.  We loved learning sign language and want to learn more.

A post card from Czech Republic!
It was a fabulous surprise to receive a post card from Amy-Rose.  She is visiting her Mum's home country the Czech Republic.  We hope they are having a fantastic time with their family and friends.
