We Love The Bee-Bots!

Our class has borrowed the Bee-Bots from The House Of Science for the week.  Bee-Bots are little computerized Bees which we can programme. 

  It is really fun making the Bee-Bots go where we want them to go.  Sometimes it is tricky to programme them to go to the space we want them.  We are learning our lefts and rights. 

We have to try again and again to get it right, 

But the more we try, the better we get!

Tui Ridge Camp 

The Year Three children loved their time at Tui Ridge Camp last week.  Take a look at some of the fantastic activities they conquered.  

16 and 26

We have been looking at numbers, what we know about them and ways to create a number. At the beginning of most Math times there will be a number on the board.  The children write down everything they know about that number then we share the knowledge. The photos below show the last two days numbers, 16 and 26. And yes the 1000-984=16 came from a child - with no assistance, check out the last photo to see their recording of it.

Music Making

During discovery there has been a fair bit of music making happening. Just a little loud at times but we never stop it (just move locations sometimes) as there is so much learning evident - from verbal skills to music knowledge and cooperation skills.

Math in Kiwi

I've heard a few rumors lately that we don't do math in Kiwi. This is just to inform you that we do, we do lots of math in Kiwi, it is just not often on paper or in books.  Have a look at these busy mathematicians...

Using White boards in Kiwi

In Kiwi we use the white boards alot! Here we are using them during phonics time.

We used them during this handwriting lesson to practise the correct formation of letters before we wrote in our books.












And here we are using them during Math time. Alot of the work we do in Kiwi is on the whiteboards.
